If we’re flying to Orlando, which airport do we fly into?

The Orlando International Airport has the most options for flights, and is a 33 minute drive from our homes. Sanford (30 minutes) and Tampa (60 minutes) are other options.

How many people can stay in the homes?

How far is your home from Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World Orlando?

According to Google Maps, The Retreat is 13-20 minutes from the major theme parks in Walt Disney World; 19 minutes from Sea World; and 27 minutes from Universal Studios. Map of Orlando Area Theme Parks.

Do I need a car while staying at the Retreat?

We strongly recommend that our guests have a car at their disposal.  Bus service in Kissimmee is limited and you cannot walk to any of the theme parks.

If having a car is not an option for you, there is a transportation company serving Sunset Lakes: Florida Transport Group.

We typically rent a car from Dollar Rental Car  at the Orlando Airport, as their prices tend to be the most reasonable.  Be sure to sign up for “Dollar Express” before you leave.  This free program allows you to go directly to the vehicle pickup area counter and skip the main counter inside. Without this kind of program you can wait up to an hour at any of the car rental desks before an agent will be free to serve you.  With Dollar you should know that if you arrive after 11pm the vehicle pickup area counter is closed but you can go to the head of the line of the main counter inside and be served.

How far is your home from a grocery store?

There is a Super Market Grocery store approximately 6 minutes and a Publix 8 minutes from The Retreat.

Do you have daily cleaning service at your home?

The villa is self-catering and daily cleaning is not provided.  The home is professionally cleaned after our guests leave, and inspected and freshened prior to your arrival to ensure cleanliness.  If you are interested in extra cleaning during your stay, we can arrange this for an additional charge.

Since your home is self-catering, do you have a suggested list of items to pack/bring?

We also provide a welcome package of coffee, tea, herbal tea, sugar and creamers….especially useful for those arriving late and who can’t immediately get to a grocery store.

If you have space in your luggage, we suggest bringing the following items with you, rather than buying larger quantities when arriving:

• personal toiletries such as shampoo, soaps, etc. 

Do  you provide high-chairs, cribs and play-pens?

The check out time is at 10 AM, but my flight is not until late that evening.  Can I have a late check-out?

We will try to accommodate late check outs whenever possible.  Where it is possible to arrange a late check out the charges are as follows:

• 1pm check out - $35 USD
• 4pm check out - $50 USD

Unfortunately if we have guests arriving the same day as you depart it may not be possible to offer this service. We must provide the cleaning staff with adequate time to professionally clean the home.  As an alternative, the Hyatt hotel at the Orlando Airport offers day-use rooms for a nominal charge.  Available from 10 am to 6 pm daily, these special guest rooms are ideal for families looking to keep their children comfortable and entertained while waiting for a flight.
